IN SHORT
- The app has no server of its own. Your reading, favorites and settings stay on your device.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics and no third-party crash reporting.
- You can use Sign in with Apple. What Apple shares is kept in your device's Keychain and is not sent to us.
- Apple handles all payments. We never see your card details.
This policy explains what the Myth Explorer app ("the App") and this website ("the Site") do with your data, and the choices you have. "We" and "us" mean the developer named below.
1. Who we are
Myth Explorer is operated by liuzhenghao, who is the data controller. You can reach us at [email protected].
2. What the App handles
Your Apple account, only if you sign in
Sign in with Apple is optional for browsing, though the App asks you to sign in after the free reading limit and to view purchased content. If you sign in, Apple gives the App a stable user identifier. The first time you authorize the App, Apple also gives it your name and an email address, which can be Apple's private relay address.
The App stores these in your device's Keychain, on that device only, to keep you signed in and to show your profile. They are not sent to us.
Purchases
The App sells auto-renewing subscriptions through the App Store. Apple processes the payment and we never see your card details. The App reads your verified purchase records from Apple on your device to unlock content, and we run no server of our own to check them.
Data stored on your device
The App keeps the following on your device, and does not send it to us:
- favorites and collections
- reading progress and your count of free stories read
- audio settings and playback progress
- app settings, such as reading style, haptics and reminders
- the profile picture you choose
Apart from your Keychain sign-in, this data may be included in your own iCloud or computer backups if you have those turned on. Apple's backup terms apply to them.
Photos
If you set a profile picture, you pick it with the iOS photo picker and the App receives only that picture. Where the App offers saving artwork to your library, it asks for add-only access. It never reads your other photos.
Reminders
If you allow notifications, the App schedules daily reminders on your device. They are local notifications. No server sends them, and you can turn them off at any time in iOS Settings.
Network use
Most content ships inside the App. Some audio and image packs download from Apple's servers when you need them. Sign-in and purchases also go through Apple. The App sends no personal data to any server of ours, because it has none.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data or share it for advertising.
- We do not track you across apps or websites, and the App does not read your advertising identifier.
- The App contains no advertising, analytics or third-party crash-reporting software.
- The App does not use your location, contacts, camera or microphone.
4. This website
The Site sets no cookies and shows no advertising. Three things happen when you visit:
- Fonts. The Site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Visit counts. The Site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It uses no cookies and does not identify you or follow you across sites. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Hosting. The company hosting the Site may keep standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, to deliver the Site and keep it secure.
Download links carry a campaign tag, so Apple can tell us in total how many people reached the App Store from the Site. We never see who they were.
If you email us, we use your message and address only to answer you, and we delete them when they are no longer needed.
5. Who else is involved
Apple provides Sign in with Apple, App Store payments and content downloads, and its handling of that data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. On the Site, Google provides fonts, Cloudflare counts visits and our hosting company delivers the pages. We share data with no one else.
6. How long data is kept, and how to delete it
Data on your device stays there until you remove it. You have three ways to do that:
- Clear Local Data in the App removes your favorites, profile picture and reading preferences. You stay signed in and keep your purchases.
- Delete Account in the App's settings erases your local data on that device and signs you out.
- Deleting the App removes its data from your device. Your Keychain sign-in may remain on the device. Use Delete Account first to remove it.
Because the App has no server, it cannot end your Sign in with Apple link for you. To end it, open iOS Settings, tap your name, then Sign-In & Security, then Sign in with Apple, choose Myth Explorer and tap Stop Using Apple ID.
Purchases stay tied to your Apple ID under Apple's rules, and you can restore them at any time. To cancel a subscription, use your Apple ID subscription settings.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the EU, the UK and California, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal data, to object to or restrict its use, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. Since we hold almost no data about you, the tools above cover most requests. For anything else, write to [email protected]. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
If you are in the EU or UK, the legal basis for handling your sign-in and purchase data is providing the service you asked for. For the Site's fonts, visit counts and logs, it is our legitimate interest in delivering a working, secure site.
8. Children
Myth Explorer is not directed to children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If the App ever begins sending data to a server or third party, we will update this policy before that happens.
